Crowding
Too little room, so teeth overlap, twist, or get pushed out of line. The most common reason for treatment.
Spacing & Gaps
Extra space between teeth, whether from missing teeth or a mismatch between tooth and jaw size.
Overbite
Upper front teeth that sit too far over the lower teeth, which can wear enamel and strain the jaw.
Underbite
Lower teeth that sit ahead of the uppers — often tied to jaw growth and best addressed early.
Crossbite
Upper teeth that close inside the lowers, on one side or both, which can shift the jaw over time.
Open Bite
Front teeth that don't meet when the back teeth are closed, sometimes from thumb or tongue habits.

Early, or "two-phase," treatment lays the groundwork before all the adult teeth arrive. It's not treatment for every child — often it's one short, targeted step that makes everything later go smoother.
The Age-7 Check
A first evaluation around age 7 lets us spot crowding, bite, or growth concerns while the jaw is still developing.
Phase 1 (ages 7–10)
If needed, a short phase — sometimes a palatal expander — widens the jaw and makes room for permanent teeth.
Phase 2
Once the permanent teeth are in, a full course of LightForce aligns everything into a healthy, finished smile.

Starting treatment? Here's what to expect day to day. Anything we haven't covered, just ask us at your visit.
Getting started doesn't hurt — we're simply bonding brackets to your teeth and attaching the wires. In the first week or two you may feel some mild soreness as your teeth and gums adjust, and an over-the-counter pain reliever handles it easily. It settles down quickly.
It depends on your oral health, how complex your case is, and how diligently you follow directions — including wearing any rubber bands as instructed. After your complimentary exam, Dr. Andrews can give you a solid estimate. Because LightForce is custom 3D-printed, treatment is often quicker than with older, one-size-fits-all systems.
Maybe — it depends on your bite. Elastics hook between an upper and a lower bracket to apply gentle, steady force that helps correct overbites, underbites, crossbites, and open bites. Some patients need them, some don't. We'll know after your exam.
You can still eat at your favorite spots — just steer clear of foods that damage brackets and wires. As a rule of thumb, avoid anything very chewy, sticky, crunchy, or hard.

The first week, stick to softer foods like pasta, mashed potatoes, and soup while everything settles in.
Absolutely — LightForce won't keep you on the sidelines. Just wear a mouthguard whenever you play. It protects both your smile and your teeth (and the other players) from impact.
A floss threader makes it easy. The stiff end pushes the floss behind the archwire so you can clean between teeth as normal. Because LightForce brackets are compact and custom-fit, there are fewer spots for food to get trapped in the first place.
